For decades I had thought that if I ever changed vocations I would find something that involved my two lifelong passions: aviation and photography. On Halloween morning 2018 decisions were made for me and I found myself out of a job that I loved for reasons that I could not control. My position was "eliminated." Yet again someone, somewhere, for some reason, made a decision that changed my entire future without even consulting me! I found out again as most of us have that I really did not have control of my life and my destiny after all. Rather than take it hard, I decided to take it easy. I made the decision to jump into aviation and photography--and throw myself into the drone business. I had only myself to worry about, so it was time! I have attended business seminars specifically for the drone photography business in Phoenix in December of 2018 and Houston in June of 2019 and here I am, the founder, owner and Managing Partner of Heavens Above Aerial Imaging LLC!
Over the years I had done a tremendous amount of flying as a mission pilot for search and rescue efforts, disaster relief agencies, Homeland Security and counter-drug missions for the DEA, US Customs and other agencies and all those taskings involved aerial photography. Talk about being groomed for my own business! What could have been better preparation?
In early 2022 I became a partner in a Cessna 172 based at Tyler Pounds Field in Tyler, Texas, so in addition to single engine airplanes, I am flying what the FAA calls "sUAS"s, or Small Unmanned Aerial Systems; drones by any other name. The CCP "virus" slowed my progress however I've been building my portfolio and you can see it right here and on Facebook at Heavens Above Aerial Imaging LLC.
